US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung, met with Professor Gomika Udugamasooriya, a Senior Presidential Advisor on Science and Technology, at the US Embassy in Colombo. They talked about helping communities hit by Cyclone Ditwah and the rebuilding efforts in Sri Lanka. They also discussed the upcoming National Research and Development (R&D) Policy for the country. The meeting highlighted possible programs that both nations could work on together. According to the President’s Media Division, they shared ideas on how to attract more US investments to Sri Lanka. They looked into ways to improve cooperation in areas like Higher Education, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Digitalization, all under the National R&D Policy. Ambassador Chung pointed out that improving Sri Lanka’s research and development could create new opportunities to enter the US market. She also confirmed the United States' dedication to enhancing technological and scientific partnerships with Sri Lanka.
