The Meteorology Department has announced that several areas in Sri Lanka will see showers. The Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, Central, and North-Western Provinces are expected to experience these rain spells. After 1:00 p.m., other regions of the island may also have rain or thundershowers. Some locations in these affected areas could receive heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm, according to the Met Department. Winds may reach speeds of 30–40 km/h at times, particularly over the eastern slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the districts of Trincomalee, Hambantota, and Monaragala. Additionally, misty weather is likely in parts of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern Provinces during the early morning hours. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to avoid damage from temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
