The final farewell for the late veteran actor Sathischandra Edirisinghe will take place on Thursday at the Borella General Cemetery. His body will be brought to his home tomorrow, the 24th, at 7:30 a.m. After religious ceremonies on Thursday morning, the last rites are set for 5:00 p.m. at the cemetery. Sathischandra Edirisinghe passed away last night, the 22nd, while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Thalawathugoda. Currently, his body is at a private funeral home in Borella. He was the brother of well-known singer Sunil Edirisinghe and was a talented artist who significantly contributed to Sri Lankan arts through acting and directing. Born on February 10, 1941, in Kelaniya, Patikirige Sathischandra Edirisinghe had a career that lasted over fifty years. He was 84 years old at the time of his death. In 1986, he won an award for his role in the film "Keti Waleegaya," directed by Gamini Fonseka, where he played a Sinhala youth for just 90 seconds. He also received a Special Jury Award at the 1987 Sarasaviya Awards Festival for his portrayal of a Buddhist monk. Additionally, he staged his first play, "Bakathapas," in 1963.
