Special police measures are in place in urban areas and places of worship ahead of the festive season, according to Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler. In a media briefing today (15), ASP Wootler announced that an extra 2,500 police officers have been assigned to the Western Province for this operation. He mentioned that, due to the festive period, the Inspector General of Police has given a special order to all police stations to enhance security in cities, at religious sites, and in places with large crowds, such as shopping centers. The public is encouraged to be careful when parking their vehicles and to avoid leaving valuables or cash inside. ASP Wootler emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious person or activity to the nearest police officer right away. During this festive time, many plainclothes officers will be available to help and protect the community. Additionally, intelligence officers will be on duty. The Sri Lanka Police, the Special Task Force, and the Tri-Forces are all ready to ensure the safety of the public.
