A problem with the braking system has been found in the vehicle of former Speaker and National People’s Power (NPP) MP Asoka Ranwala, which was involved in an accident in Sapugaskanda on Thursday, October 11, according to police reports. The police have not yet received the medical report for MP Asoka Ranwala, who was in the accident that injured at least three people, as stated by Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler. Currently, the only document the police have is the vehicle inspection report related to the incident. This report shows that MP Ranwala's vehicle was not well-maintained and had a braking system defect. The Police Media Spokesperson mentioned that legal steps against Asoka Ranwala will be decided once the medical report is available. On Thursday night, the jeep driven by MP Ranwala crashed into a car and a motorcycle, causing injuries to him and three others, including a six-month-old baby in the other vehicle. Asoka Ranwala was arrested following the incident but was later released on bail. Meanwhile, Ada Derana has not received any responses to questions posed to the Acting Director of Colombo National Hospital regarding Ranwala's medical report. Further inquiries with the Officer-in-Charge at the Sapugaskanda Police Station confirmed that the medical report has still not been received by the police.
