The Western Provincial Road Passenger Transport Authority (WPRPTA) has announced that issuing and obtaining tickets on private buses will become mandatory from the first of next month, WPRPTA Chairman Gamini Jayasinghe said. He said that the law will be strictly enforced, and drivers or passengers who fail to comply will face action. Chairman Jayasinghe also said that GPS devices will be installed on passenger buses and a card payment system will be introduced before the end of the year as part of efforts to modernize public transport services.
