Nearly 1,500 scheduled bus services operated by the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) have been cancelled as a result of significant road obstructions and hazardous travel conditions caused by Cyclone Ditwah. The severe weather has affected multiple key routes, prompting authorities to prioritize public safety and temporarily restrict services.

The SLTB has announced that approximately 15,000 passengers who had already secured seat reservations will be allowed to reschedule their bookings for any future travel date at no additional charge. This measure has been introduced to minimize passenger inconvenience and ensure that those affected by cancellations are still able to travel once conditions normalize.

For further assistance or clarification, passengers are encouraged to contact the SLTB through the official hotline 1315 or the alternate number 070 3110 506, where staff members are available to provide updated information and support.

Among the routes currently suspended are services to Nuwara Eliya, Nawalapitiya, Route 87 to Jaffna, Walapane, Muttur, and Bible, which remain non-operational due to unsafe travel conditions. However, SLTB confirms that operations on several other routes have now resumed as weather conditions improve and roads gradually reopen.
