The Bribery Commission has revealed that Ramith Rambukwella, son of former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, acquired two houses worth over Rs. 140 million, cash amounting to Rs. 180 million, a Discovery Jeep, four bank accounts, and four accounts belonging to his wife, among other properties, using undisclosed assets. The two houses were purchased from a luxury housing complex on Dharmapala Mawatha, Colombo 07, with one valued at Rs. 80 million and the other at Rs. 65 million. According to investigations conducted by the Bribery Commission against Keheliya Rambukwella on charges of corruption, he amassed assets worth over Rs. 270 million within a period of 21 months during his tenure as Minister of Health. The Commission stated that Ramith Rambukwella, who also served as his father’s private secretary during this period, acquired assets and properties worth Rs. 296,566,444.76 between January 1, 2022, and November 14, 2023, without disclosing how he obtained such wealth. As a result, the Bribery Commission filed an indictment under the Anti-Corruption Act before the High Court on the 12th. The Commission further revealed that fixed deposits have been opened in both his and his wife’s names, and investigations are ongoing across several other sectors.
