SriLankan Airlines has been crowned the ‘Best Airline for South Asia’ at the prestigious International Tourism Conclave and Travel Awards held recently in Delhi, India — reaffirming its position as a leading regional carrier. The award recognises SriLankan Airlines for its extensive network connecting South Asia to the world, its renowned Sri Lankan hospitality, and its ability to build strong, lasting relationships with travellers across the region. The selection was made by a respected panel of judges and travel industry experts. Dimuthu Tennakoon, Head of Commercial at SriLankan Airlines, said the award is a testament to the airline’s continuous commitment to quality and service. “Receiving this award further validates our unwavering commitment to delivering an exceptional travel experience to our customers in South Asia,” he said. “Our extensive connectivity across key markets, combined with our renowned service, make us the preferred choice for travellers in this part of the world.” SriLankan Airlines operates close to 90 weekly flights between India and Colombo, offering daily services from major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru, as well as regular connections from several Tier-2 cities. Notably, the airline was the first international carrier to operate flights to Tiruchirappalli, with eight weekly services. It also connects Madurai with six flights a week, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram with four each, and offers daily services from Kochi. This network strengthens the airline’s position as a key enabler of India’s fast-growing travel and tourism market. India remains Sri Lanka’s largest source of tourist arrivals, accounting for about 20% of total inbound traffic. SriLankan Airlines continues to lead in routes connecting Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai with Colombo. The airline operates a mix of wide-body and narrow-body Airbus aircraft, offering both Business and Economy Class cabins.
