A businessman and an Excise officer involved in a pre-dawn showdown outside a nightclub in Thalawathugoda while firing rounds from a revolver were arrested today by the Thalangama Police. An argument which ensued between the two, outside the Podium Sports Pub at the Austasia Sports and Leisure Club, had led to the businessman pointing his licensed revolver at his opponent, the Excise officer. The Excise officer while responding quickly had managed to grab the former’s revolver and had fired four rounds at an adjoining wall. Thalangama Police who arrived at the scene shortly thereafter took both the businessman and the Excise officer into custody along with the weapon involved. Nobody had sustained injuries in the incident and Thalangama Police are conducting further investigations.
