LNP – Fuel distributors stick to their guns

Fuel distributors said they would continue with their position not to place orders despite the government agreeing to a meeting with them on Tuesday.

A spokesman for their Association said they are opposed to the government’s move to scrap three percent profit added to sales price.

Their protest triggered panic buying in the country but the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) assured that sufficient fuel stocks are available in the country.

CPC Chairman D.A. Rajakaruna said that the government decided on profit margin not on sales prices but on actual costs.
