LNP – Namal criticises NPP’s change of stance on Indian, Chinese deals
While commending President Anura Kumara Dissanayake for completing successful visits to India and China, SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa expressed irony over the President’s decision to sign deals with Indian and Chinese companies that the National People’s Power (NPP) had previously criticised as “corrupt” during their time in the Opposition.
“During the previous govts. when these Chinese & Indian companies showed interest on investing in Sri Lanka, it was this very NPP who stood against it, terming these companies as controversial, corrupt etc. However now, the NPP seems to have chewn its own words, claiming credit for signing FDIs with them,” the MP said.
Rajapaksa said that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake must come out and explain to the public why they opposed these FDIs back then and why they tarnished the image of these Indian and Chinese companies.
“The NPP government must also come out and explain what their foreign policy is, which is still rather vague with no clear direction in sight,” the MP said.
