LNP – Vocational education key to economic growth, future success: Prime Minister

As a subject, vocational education directly contributes to the economy and should be considered a respectable choice. It provides a clear pathway from school education to higher education, leading to a promising future, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said.

She made this statement while attending the ceremony where Nalin Hewage, newly appointed as the Deputy Minister of Vocational Education in the new government, officially assumed his duties at the Nipunatha Piyasa in Narahenpita.

Education is considered a top priority of the current government. Although education, higher education and vocational education are treated as separate subjects, they are interconnected components of a holistic education system that should function together seamlessly.

“Our government is paying special attention to vocational education. It is traditionally seen as a pathway for children who are left behind or unable to pursue other options. That attitude must change. Vocational education is a field that directly contributes to the economy and should be a respectable choice, offering a bright future from school education to higher education,” the Prime Minister said.
