LNP – Interruptions to water supply if CEB doesn’t restore power breakdowns during strike: Water Supply Trade Union
The water supply could be disrupted if the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is unable to restore power breakdowns during the protest, the convener of the Water Supply Trade Union Collective Alliance, Engineer Upali Rathnayake said.
He said all pumping stations and water purification plants are operated through electricity supply. There is no alternative measures to get the required power supply.
Therefore, if there were any kind of power interruptions to the water board, there could be disruptions to the water supply.
“It was reported that a Bill is going to be amended with the aim of creating sub companies. Hence, it is clear that there will be an attempt to privatize the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) soon, Rathnayake added.
