LNP – Cabinet approves Rs. 106 mn for Paralympic winners, athletes and coaches
The cabinet has approved a sum of Rs. 106.625 million as a reward scheme to be allocated for the medal winners, athletes and coaches who participated at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports submitted the cabinet paper.
Accordingly, Rs. 50 million will be awarded to Paralympics gold medalist Dinesh Priyantha Herath while Rs. 20 million will be given to bronze medalist Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku.
Also, Rs. 10 million will be awarded to Dinesh Priyantha Herath for his world record.
In addition, Rs. 2.5 million for the athlete who obtains 4th-8th place while four athletes will be awarded Rs. 1 million each for the places of 9th-16th.
A total of Rs. 19.125 million had been allocated for the coaches.
The Sports Ministry said the prize money for the World Record and an additional Rs. 1 million for the bronze medal has been sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Automobile Association in Japan (SLAAJ) has presented two motor vehicles to Dinesh Priyantha Herath and Samith Dulan Kodithuwakku
