LNP – Attention drawn to vaccinate students, academic, non-academic staff of universities: Minister

Following requests of University Vice Chancellors, the attention of the Education Education Ministry was drawn to provide COVID-19 vaccine to all students, including university academic and non-academic staff and this gives an indication that the universities will be opened soon, the Education Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris said.

The universities will reopen soon after the vaccination program is completed, according to the Minister and based on the recommendations of the medical officers.

The request was made following a discussion held at the Ministry with the Vice Chancellor regarding the progress of the online study of universities in the face of the current COVID 19 epidemic and other administrative matters.

Accordingly, a lengthy discussion was held on how to conduct future examinations in a hygienic environment and current problems of the online education system in operation for university students were taken into discussion.
