As we look ahead to the New Year of 2026, Prime Minister Harini shares an important message. She reflects on 2025, a year that saw many significant and positive changes thanks to a government focused on the people. The Prime Minister believes that we have made strides in creating a new political culture that promotes transparency in how the government operates and sets up a public service that is efficient and free from corruption. In 2025, Sri Lanka made notable progress in various areas, such as achieving economic stability, improving how the world views our country, setting up clear systems for governance, and strengthening the legal system's independence. However, the end of 2025 brought about a tough situation for our nation. It was a difficult time that touched many lives, but the unity, kindness, and teamwork shown by Sri Lankans during this crisis were admired globally. As we enter 2026, we are dedicated to tackling these challenges, healing from the past disaster, and restoring the lives of those affected. Our goals include improving the education system, digitizing public services, and creating a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and artists with innovative ideas to thrive internationally. We also aim to build a caring, eco-friendly society that is free from drugs and harmful substances. The Prime Minister emphasizes that rebuilding our nation is a shared responsibility among all Sri Lankans, alongside the government, regardless of ethnic, religious, or political differences, united by a strong Sri Lankan identity. She encourages everyone to turn the challenges of the past year into sources of strength and to step into 2026 with renewed energy, hope, and resolve. She wishes everyone a successful New Year full of peace, happiness, and prosperity.
