The Badulla Spring Valley Regional Hospital is temporarily closed because of the risk of landslides, according to the Uva Province Ministry of Health. This closure has created significant challenges for workers at the Spring Valley plantation and patients from five nearby villages, including Spring Valley. Badulla District Secretary Prabath Abeywardana explained that geologists from the National Building Research Organisation found a potential landslide threat from the Namunukula mountain range near the hospital. To help patients, outpatient services are now being provided at the Abhayapura Community Hall to reduce their difficulties. The District Secretary also mentioned that further evaluations are ongoing to assess the hospital's risk, and there is a focus on possibly keeping some services at the same site. Meanwhile, local residents have reported that blocked access roads are making it hard to reach the temporary outpatient center.
