Deputy Minister of Environment Anton Jayakody recently visited the Hakgala Botanical Garden to oversee efforts for its quick reopening. The garden has been closed temporarily due to the damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka. During the visit, the Minister directed officials to implement both short-term and long-term plans to stabilize the ground, given the ongoing risk of landslides in the area. As a result, the Hakgala Botanical Garden is set to welcome tourists again soon. The inspection included K. Bandara, the Director of the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO), along with the Geologist for the Nuwara Eliya District and other officials from the Department of National Botanic Gardens.
