Two men were caught trying to smuggle foreign-made cigarettes worth Rs. 11.3 million into Sri Lanka at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). Airport customs officers arrested them as they tried to pass through the Green Channel. One suspect is a 37-year-old businessman from Kalmunai, who arrived at the airport at 3:00 a.m. today (29) from Dubai. The other suspect is a 26-year-old from Kotahena, who also came in from Dubai at the same time. Inside their luggage, customs officers found 378 cartons of foreign-made cigarettes. The customs team at the airport is continuing to investigate the case.
