Restoration efforts on the Sri Pada-Hatton road, affected by a landslide in Mahagiri Damba, are nearly finished. Army personnel are working on fixing the damaged staircase and protective fence in that area. The landslide happened when an invasive plant species, which had thrived on waste left by pilgrims, collapsed during heavy rains, taking down the protective fence with it. After the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) inspected the site and assessed the landslides, they made recommendations that led to the Army starting the restoration work, according to a report from Ada Derana. The Chief Incumbent of the Sri Pada Temple, Venerable Bengamuwe Sri Dhammadinna Nayake Thero, mentioned that the renovation is close to completion. Once the work is done, pilgrims will be able to visit Sri Pada without any issues along the Sri Pada-Hatton road.
