Three suspects, including two women, were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for defrauding over Rs. 27 million from the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation.
The CID launched an investigation after the General Manager of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation, located at Navinna in Maharagama, lodged a complaint.Â
The complaint detailed that Rs. 27,031,024.15 had been embezzled by altering data in the corporation’s computer software system.
Following the investigation, the main suspect responsible for the fraud, along with two accomplices, were arrested by CID officers.
The arrested male suspect is 35 years old from Kelaniya, and the female suspects are identified as residents of Kelaniya who are 25 and 32 years old.
The suspects were produce before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court and were remanded till April 11.
