The High Posts Committee is vested with the power to approve the names of those who are nominated to prominent posts by the President and the government as a whole.
Accordingly the committee has the power to approve the appointments of heads to Sri Lankan missions abroad.
The committee looks into the qualifications and eligibility of persons who are appointed to top posts.
