LNP – Cabinet approves E-8 visa jobs for Sri Lankans, exclusively through SLBFE

The Cabinet approved employment opportunities under South Korea’s E-8 visa category, with recruitment exclusively handled by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE).

SLBFE Chairman Koshala Wickramasinghe said that no individual or private agency is authorised to offer E-8 visa jobs. He warned the public against paying intermediaries, as all recruitment will be conducted through the Bureau.

Speaking at an event where air tickets were presented to Sri Lankans securing E-9 visa jobs, Wickramasinghe explained that the E-8 visa is specifically for individuals with agricultural expertise. Only qualified candidates will be selected through the SLBFE, ensuring a transparent and regulated process.

“We will not allow third-party agencies to exploit job seekers by charging high fees. The SLBFE will oversee recruitment at minimal costs,” he said.

To maintain fairness, the Bureau will soon announce recruitment guidelines and qualifications via media channels, allowing equal access to job opportunities.
