The Adani Group has refuted reports claiming the cancellation of its 484 MW wind power projects in Mannar and Pooneryn, labeling them as âfalse and misleading.â
In a statement, an Adani Group spokesperson clarified that the Sri Lankan Cabinetâs decision on January 2, 2025, to reevaluate the tariff approved in May 2024 is part of a routine review process.Â
This reevaluation, they emphasized, is a standard procedure undertaken by the new government to ensure the terms align with their current priorities and energy policies.
âThe project has not been cancelled,â the spokesperson affirmed, adding that Adani remains steadfast in its commitment to investing $1 billion in Sri Lankaâs green energy sector. The companyâs initiatives aim to bolster renewable energy production while fostering economic growth in the country.
Adaniâs wind power projects in Mannar and Pooneryn are pivotal to Sri Lankaâs transition to cleaner energy sources, and the groupâs commitment underscores its long-term vision for the nationâs sustainable development.
