A 37-year-old person from Kandy allegedly involved in a racket of selling train tickets to foreigners at exorbitant prices has been arrested yesterday, police said.
They said the arrest was made by the Kandy Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau following a tip-off received by officers.
The suspect was arrested in the Suduhumpola area of ​​Kandy.
Following the arrest, police seized 21 train tickets purchased online for the Odyssey train, Rs. 130,670 in cash suspected to have been earned from the sale of the train tickets, 130 notepads containing information on previous train ticket sales and a mobile phone from his possession.
The suspect has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigations.
