The discussion held today between private bus associations and the Acting Inspector General of Police regarding traffic operations conducted under the Clean Sri Lanka programme was successful, according to the private bus associations.
Addressing the media, they announced that the associations have decided not to proceed with the planned island-wide strike.
The bus associations had initially decided to launch a strike to protest against what they perceived as the police overstepping their authority and exerting unnecessary pressure on buses.
In this context, representatives of the bus associations met with Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya at Police Headquarters this morning.
Following the discussions, the bus associations decided not to proceed with the planned strike action.
