Sri Lanka has been ranked among the top five destinations in the world for long vacations in a study conducted by Ubuy India, a global e-commerce platform.

With a total score of 42.283 and a search volume of 1,127,010, Sri Lanka was listed as the 4th best country in the report which analysed over 100 countries considering factors such as affordability, cultural richness, safety and travel convenience.

According to the report, Sri Lanka has a crime index of 42.1 and a domestic transportation quality score of 4.4 out of 7.Â

Moreover, the island has eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites and around 40 popular attractions which give it a density of 0.12 heritage sites and 0.61 attractions per 1,000 square kilometres.

“Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage and unique experiences make it a standout choice for history enthusiasts,” the study stated.

The report also calculated the costs related to a long vacation in Sri Lanka, noting that a 20-day stay costs an average of US$ 1,630 for accommodation while a three-course meal for two persons at a restaurant is priced at US$ 23.40.

Additionally, the island has a tourist season that spans approximately eight months which makes the country an ideal destination for travellers looking for extended stays.

Vietnam topped the list as the best country for long vacations in the study as the country secured the highest composite score of 64.3 among the 100 destinations.

India was listed second for its 40 UNESCO World Heritage sites and the most affordable restaurant prices with a three-course meal for two people averaging approximately US$ 14.29.

Japan was identified as the safest destination for extended stays in the study as the country records the lowest crime rate of 22.6.
