The Supreme Court has granted permission to name former President Ranil Wickremesinghe as a respondent in Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions filed regarding the alleged police attack and dispersing of a protest organized by the Socialist Youth Union (SYU) in 2022.
The permission was granted by the court after considering a request made by attorneys of the petitioning party when two petitions filed by a group of members of the SYU were taken up for consideration today (22).
