LNP – Maximum expenditure limits announced for general election

The Election Commission announced the maximum expenditure limits allowed for candidates, parties, independent groups and national list candidates ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary election slated for November 14. Â

The maximum expenditure limits allowed for candidates, parties, independent groups and national list candidates vary depending on the districts.

Accordingly, the maximum expenditure limits allowed for candidates in the Colombo District (highest) is Rs. 5,750,000 while for parties it is Rs. 79,493,756 and for national list candidates Rs. 34,694Â

Further, maximum expenditure limit allowed for candidates in Vanni District (lowest) is Rs. 1,673,243, for parties Rs. 9,91,3,964 and for national list candidates Rs. 4,327.
