LNP – Seas waves to rise as high as 3 metres

The Department of Meteorology today warned of an increase swell of sea waves of about 2.5 – 3.0 m in the sea areas in the coming days due to active Southwest Monsoon conditions.

Therefore, it was advised not to venture into fishing and naval activities in the areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

Winds in the said areas were expected to be rough with speeds of around 50kmph.

It forecasted rains exceeding 100m in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara Districts.

Meanwhile areas including Ratmalana and Batticaloa districts had experienced showers of nearly 100mm yesterday.
