LNP – Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka exceed 100,000 this year

More than 100,000 tourists have visited the country from January up to date, the Tourism Ministry said.

Accordingly, 101,872 tourists arrived from January 1 to November 28 this year and 41,177 tourists have arrived in the country from November 1 to yesterday (28).

According to the Tourism Development Authority, the highest number of tourists have arrived from India this month.

A total of 13,368 tourists have arrived in the country from India in November this year while the second highest number of tourist arrival of 3,449 reported from Russia in the last 28 days after India.

In addition, tourists have arrived from the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Germany, the Maldives, France, the United States, Canada and Australia.

The Tourism Development Authority predicts that between 150,000 and 180,000 tourists will arrive in the country by the end of this year.

The ministry said that Minister Prasanna Ranatunga is confident that the tourism industry will gradually recover by next year.
