The Special Task Force of Police (STF) has arrested a doctor who worked at the Panadura Base Hospital for selling drug pills worth over Rs. 3 million at a private medical center at Palliyamulla in Panadura.
The STF said the 50-year old doctor from Gorakapola was arrested along with 20,030 pills which is prescribed for mentally ill persons, but selling them for those addicted to drugs.
Fifteen youths who were present at the medical center to purchase the drugs at the time of the arrest were also arrested.
The arrest was made based on intelligence provided to the STF by the STF Special Operations Unit.
The suspects were handed over to the Panadura (North) Police Station for further investigations.
