LNP – Pope conveys solidarity with Cardinal in revealing truth behind Easter Sunday attacks

Pope Francis in a letter addressed to Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, expressed his solidarity with him in uncovering the truth with regard to Easter Sunday attacks and meting out justice to those who were affected by the mayham.

Cardinal Ranjith revealed that he had received a letter from the Pope during webinar he participated over the week end.

A part of the letter which revealed saying “The situation with regard to Easter Sunday attacks makes me very sad I promise to pray more. I am ready to do whatever you consider opportune. Tomorrow I will speak with the Secretary of State of Vatican about it. Please count on me and indicate what would be best to be done from this end,”

Cardinal Ranjith who participated in an eucharistic service at the Katuwapitiya church on October 21, announced that Rev. Fr. Jude Crishantha has confirmed receipt of the letter from Pope Francis. However he said it has been decided not to publish the full text of the letter.

Meanwhile Cardinal Ranjith while participating at the Katuwapitiya church Negombo on October 21, assured the devotees that the Leader and the shepherd of the global Catholic church is ready to wipe the tears.” Church leaders will never abandon those who have suffered as a result of Easter Sunday suicide attacks and therefore he appealed everyone to be courageous,” he said.
