The gas companies have made fresh requests from the government to increase the price of a domestic gas cylinder, Co-operative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna said.
He said the requests were made due to the escalation in prices of gas in the world market.
âThe ministry accepts that there is a shortage of gas in the local market, but it is not like earlier. The production of gas is currently underway according to the information received from the Ministry,â he said.
However, the Ministry is currently holding discussions with the gas companies over the prices, the Minister said
