LNP – Sri Lanka reached its worst, highest level in COVID-19 epidemic: GMOA

The country has reached its worst and highest level in the COVID pandemic, the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) General Secretary Dr. Nalinda Herath said.

Addressing the media, he said the worst situation is not only the increase in the number of deaths, but the number of health officials contracted with the virus is also increasing.

Accordingly, the number of COVID patients has reached beyond the level of hospital treatment capacity. Due to the pandemic, hospital beds and intensive care facilities are spilling over, Dr. Herath said.

“On the other hand, we are facing a huge problem in finding human resources due to the escalating number of medical staffers contracting the virus,” he added.
