LNP – Govt.to submit weekly reports to Parliament on COVID 19 situation: Pavithra

Government is considering giving weekly reports to Parliament on COVID-19 pandemic situation, Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi said today.

Ms. Wanniarachchi who said this in response to a request made by UNP MP Ranil Wickremesinghe in the House said submitting reports on pandemic to the legislature is a welcome move. “This is a better option rather than answering questions and we will consider this,” she said.

Earlier the former PM proposed that it would be better for the Minister of Health to brief Parliament on the pandemic and give a correct picture on the pandemic situation. This kind of practice is being carried out in the House of Commons in the UK,” he said.
