Thirty six percent of the total population above 30 years of age in Sri Lanka has been administered with at least the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, the Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) Director Ranjith Batuwanthudawa said.
He told the Daily Mirror that 70% of the target population in the Colombo district had received the first dose of vaccine, while 25% has received both the doses.
âConsidering the other two districts in the Western Province, 66% in the Gampaha district were given the first dose while 21% have received both the doses,â he said.
âIn the Kalutara district, 54% of the population was inoculated with the first dose while 20% has been given both the does,â he added.
Accordingly, Dr Batuwanthudawa said 20% of the target population has been covered in the Western Province.
