NIC last digit directive applicable only for curfew areas – PMD

The government yesterday announced the National Identity Card (NIC) numerical system, which had been introduced for the public to be adhered whilst stepping out of the house for essential purpose, will only be applicable for the areas where the curfew is in force.Â

The Presidential Media Division issuing a statement last night stated the new numerical system will not be applicable when leaving the houses when the curfew is relaxed.Â

However, persons will not be permitted to enter or leave towns or villages that have been declared as isolated areas and this regulation will be implemented strictly, the PMD said.

According to the introduced numerical system the citizens could step out of their houses on a particular day of the week as per the last digit of their NIC number.

Therefore, the citizens who could leave their homes during the week according to the last digit of their NIC number are as follows:

Monday : Individual with No. 1 or 2 as the last digit of their NICs

Tuesday : Individual with No. 3 or 4 as the last digit of their NICs

Wednesday : Individual with No. 5 or 6 as the last digit of their NICs

Thursday : Individual with No. 7 or 8 as the last digit of their NICs

Friday : Individual with No. 9 or 0 as the last digit of their NICs Â
