More than 80 per cent of local government members of the United National Freedom Front (UNFF) led by Uva Province Governor Maithri Gunarathne have expressed their solidarity with United National Front (UNF) presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa.
Mr. Gunarathne, who is also the General Secretary of the UNFF, said that this was revealed at a meeting of local government members of the party held in Colombo recently.
Thirty members of the party have been elected to local government bodies in various parts of the country while another 10 independent members are supporting the party presently.
However, the UNFF has not officially decided whom it should support at the forthcoming presidential election as a party, Mr. Gunarathna said.
