My hands are clean. I donât have otherâs blood on my hands, said UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa addressing massive rally at Sathyavadi grounds in Kurunegala yesterday evening.
He said that he has never been involved in swindling public funds.
âMy hands are clean. I have never been involved in robbery nor have I ever protected murderers, drug traffickers and smugglers,â he said.
Premadasa firmly believed that he will be entrusted with the task of rebuilding the nation with the blessings of Prime Minister and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
He added that he is becoming more stronger when he is targeted by his opponents with malicious intent.Premadasa said he is committed to carry out public service from 4 a.m. to 12 midnight every day disregarding the mud slinging, unsubstantiated allegations and character assassinations aimed at deterring his service.
He stressed that the Kurunegala rally was organised by the United National Front members for the people of this country.
âThis rally is not held against anyoneâ. He said that the national programme on building 100,000, 1 million and 1.5 million houses began from the Kurunegala district.
âThe Gam Udawa programme was inaugurated from Kurunegalaâ, he said. âI donât have family or financial power I have the power of thousands of ordinary people of this country,â he said. He said that a certain group is trying to strengthen the power of a family and the siblings at the expense of people.âThis country does not belong to family, their descendents or cronies. This country belongs to the people,âhe said.
Premadasa said that he will create an environment in which every family in the country can stand on their own foot. âEvery women in the country will be strengthened to double the family income by way of self employment ventures,â he said.
Premadasa referring to a womenâs summit held in Colombo recently said that a local government member hosted bash after allegedly raping a number of girls during the previous regime.
