The Inter-Company Employees Union today staged a protest outside the Health Ministry in Colombo demanding the government to immediately takeover the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital (NFTH).
Recently, Health Ministry Secretary, Dr. Wasantha Perera, admitted that the NFTH was still a private hospital and the government was paying the loan obtained by Dr. Fernando, including all expenses of the hospital.
Therefore, the protesters demanded the government to take over the hospital and to ensure the job security of the old staff members.
