Country needs younger generation capable of winning the modern world – President

President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday said Sri Lanka today needs a literate younger generation who have respect for the country’s culture and values and also capable of winning the modern world.
He stressed that no force should be allowed to subjugate the country’s culture, values and traditions and the young generation should be capable of protecting the above.
President Sirisena was speaking at the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Henegama Central College yesterday afternoon.
The President said that education should prepare students to meet any challenge they may face in life and in their academic career.
The Henegama School which was established in 1944 is the country’s 11th School to be named as a Central College. Currently there are around 3,200 students at the school.
