InterContinental to return to Colombo with Pearl Grand Tower Hotel

The Pearl Grand Tower Hotel, which is to be managed by InterContinental Group of Hotels (IHG), recently saw the completion of the concrete structure work carried out by China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd (CSCEC).
The Pearl Grand Tower Hotel (Private) Limited this year signed a management agreement with IHG to bring back the InterContinental brand to Colombo to manage the Pearl Grand Tower Hotel, which is billed to be the tallest five-star hotel in Sri Lanka. Speaking at an event organised to mark the completion the concrete structure work of the project, Pearl Grand Tower Hotel (Private) Limited, Chairman, A.L. Mohamed Faris remarked that the project would be launched as scheduled as CSCEC and its team reorganised and reversed the project construction methods to meet with the deadlines at the initial stage.

Â

“In January 2017, Wu Jie took the responsibility of the project construction works and immediately reorganized and revised the project construction methods, which brought about fast reversion of the difficult conditions at the initial construction stage.
The project construction team introduced new construction methods to expedite the construction works which contributed to the advance completion of the concrete structural works of the project,” he said.
Located in Colombo 3, the Pearl Grand Tower Hotel, which is set to be launched by July, next year, will spread across 480,000 sq.ft. while the structure would rise up to 180 meters in height with 42 floors.
According to the initial announcement of the project, the hotel would feature 307 rooms including 47 suites and its meeting and banqueting facilities spreading over 12,000 sq.ft. with the largest room having a capacity to accommodate 400 guests.
The hotel will also include a modern business centre to cater to the growing number of business travellers visiting the city.

Â

Further, the project would feature six restaurants including an all-day dining restaurant and three speciality restaurants offering unique culinary experiences
to visitors.
“The hotel is being facilitated with guest rooms, banquet hall, swimming pool, restaurants, bar and 360-degree viewing deck at the top as a highlight of the tower,” Faris noted.
