Sri Lanka gives nod for 500MW LNG plant with India
ECONOMYEXT – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers had given approval for a joint venture agreement to be signed between India’s National Thermal Power Corporation and Ceylon Electricity Board for liquefied natural gas power palnt. the state information office said.
NTPC and CEB is planning a 500 MegaWatt LNG plant in Kerawalapitiya in the Western Province.
The draft shareholders agreements had been prepared following several working group meeting between the two agencies.
The plant is coming without open tender on a government-to-government basis.
Another 500MW plant with Japan’s Sojitz Corporation, Mitsubishi and the CEB, and a 400 MW plant with China’s CMEC in Hambantota is in negotiation. (Colombo/Sept19/2018)
