Ambassador Cheng extended his gratitude to Jayasuriya for his valuable and continuous support to the exchange of personnel between the legislative institutions of the two countries over the years.
Cheng encouraged the delegation to make full use of this visit to see a peaceful, developing and friendly China, to explore the huge potential of Sino-Sri Lanka cooperation and to better understand the importance of the joint mega-projects in Sri Lanka.
He also urged the media to jointly promote mutual understanding and exchanges and to promote China-Sri Lanka friendship and cooperation.
Jayasuriya spoke highly of the friendly relations between China and Sri Lanka, thanked the embassy for the considerate arrangements for the delegation and conveyed his appreciation for the mechanism for the parliament members to visit China, which provides an important platform for MPs to understand China and bilateral relations.
Jayasuriya encouraged the delegation to cherish this opportunity to deepen the two countriesâ friendship, focus on learning and jointly promote pragmatic cooperation between both nations.
Minister Yapa thanked the embassy for organising the visit and arranging the farewell reception.
Officials believe that the delegation can make full use of this visit to understand Chinaâs development, system and culture better and experience the achievements of Chinaâs reform and opening up roundly, and return back with fruitful results.
In order to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the legislative institutions and the local government level of the two countries, the Chinese Embassy has been organising several visits by batches of multiple-parties ministers and MP delegations to China in recent years.
The first parliamentary delegation this year, which includes 17 high level members, visits the Guangdong Province from 26 March-1 April.
