Minister of Regional Development Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka yesterday said that all the recommendations made by the United Nationâs Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva cannot be accepted as not all the charges were true.
He said some charges were exaggerated and were made after the war based on the agendas of a few to sling mud at the country. âThere could be exceptions but we are not ready to blindly accept all the allegations brought against the country,â he said.
The Minister said the Rajapaksa administration had aggravated the issue when the war crime claims were first made. âFormer President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his brother, then Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksaâs offensive behaviour aggravated the issue further,â he said.
