The Elections Commission says the eligibility of candidates fielded by political parties and independent groups for the Local Government Election will be assessed.
Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya speaking to NewsRadio said the attention of political party representatives will be directed to this move.
Deshapriya noted the matter will be taken up for discussion with election monitoring bodies as well.
