Four nomination lists filed by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna to contest the upcoming Local Government election from the Jaffna District have been rejected.
Accordingly nominations submitted for the Jaffna Municipal Council, Delft Pradeshiya Sabha, Valikamam East Pradeshiya Sabha and the list submitted for the Valikamam North Pradeshiya Sabha have been rejected.
Speaking to NewsRadio, Assistant Elections Commissioner of the Jaffna District T. Akilan said a total of 127 nomination lists were submitted to contest the forthcoming local government elections. He said four nomination lists from recognised political parties and one filed by an independent group was rejected.
The acceptance of nominations for 248 Local Government Authority elections concluded at noon today.
