Dialog Rugby League: Army vs Air Force at Racecourse

Sri Lanka Army will lock horns with Air Force Sports Club in the final first round game of the 2017/18 Dialog Rugby League Tournament at the Racecourse International Stadium at 4.00 this evening.

Army led by Thusitha Senanayake rose to fourth place in the Dialog League Table following an impressive 32-18 win over Police SC last week.

Full back Gayan SalindaĆ¢€™s impressive place kicking and Fly half Ashan BandaraĆ¢€™s penetrative runs have taken the Soldiers over the line on multiple occasions this season.

Coach Nilufer Ibrahim has also brought in an attacking element to the Army side which has been known for their defence capabilities.

A win today for the consistent Army side will elevate them to the Third position in the Points table.

The Sri Lanka Air Force on the other hand have been languishing Seventh in the Points Table following a moral shattering 43-31 defeat from CH & FC last week.

The Airmen have been below par with their execution during this campaign and have found point scoring tough. The Ratmalana based club has managed to score only eight tries during the past six games.

Playmaker Charitha Seneviratne has been the chief scorer for Air Force and his penalty conversation will be pivotal this evening against their forces opponents.

Experienced Gayantha Iddamalgoda would also need to play an important role for the Airmen in order to register only their second win of the season.

Today, both sets of backs will be fighting for honours to head to the Christmas break on a winning note.

Weather at the Racecourse will aid fast open rugby and with two leaky defence units fighting for honours, the 80 minute tussle is expected to be a high scoring affair this evening.
